I have been a fan of [author:Hunter S Thompson|14409245] for a few years now. I haven't yet read any of his books, but I plan on reading [book:Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas|7745] soon. In this book, the reader gets a personal account of growing up with Hunter. The author is Hunter's son and reading it helped me understand Hunter more. It also humanize him.

I would recommend this book to any fan of Hunter S Thompson.

That being said, I found this book interesting. The way Juan became a normal, functioning adult says a lot about his strength as a human that he managed to rise above his childhood. You don't have to be a HST fan at all to enjoy this book and I'd say it's worth a read just to see how much of a gun-toting, drug-fueled nut HST really was.… (más)

** I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

I love memoirs, and this was no different. Hunter was definitely an..interesting as character, and I liked seeing things from this point of view. I did enjoy this book and I probably will read it again someday. If you like memoirs and eccentricity, you'll like this book. 4 out of 5 stars. Good book.
