Lawrence Taylor (1) (1959–)

After the first chapter I was ready to give up on this book, it was just that tasteless. Then it got into LTs childhood and upbringing up until the '86 Super Bowl and it was entertaining at best and reviling at worst. Most athletes write a book after a big win to inspire and share their story, I'm not sure about his motivations. He is definitely not a role model, and makes no excuses or apologies for his behavior, which ranges from insubordination and rule breaking to rampant drug use. But the thing is, it seems that, LT will be the first to tell you he's not a role model, and probably doesn't care what we think. If I wasn't a Giants fan who respects what LT did on the field, I would have closed the book after the first chapter and probably thrown it in the fireplace...but alas, as a Giants fan, I finished the book, and came out with a much lower view on LT the person.… (más)

Amazing autobiography that goes into depth of the great Lawrence Taylor's drug and marriage difficulties. The book was not wriiten as your ordinary novel however. LT expresses himself in a diary type fashion. He tells stories about all of his difficulties off the field as well as his success on it. He speaks of his devastating addiction with cocaine and the troubles he got into due to it. He was also not very loyal to his wife which caused their divorce and his not so close relationship with his kids. He tells of his near death stories involving his attempts to get cocaine. This was the most brutally honest book I've ever read. Readers who want the truths about the demons that plagued a gifted athlete will find even more than they bargained for in this frank confessional.… (más)
