Molly Tanzer

The pacing was unsteady, which meant I put this down for long stretches a bunch of times, but overall I did like it. Two-months-ago!me, who'd just finished it, gave it 4 stars, but while I remember the setting and many plot points, I can't remember why I felt that way. I'll definitely be looking for more by the author.

Fun flash fiction

I liked it, though nothing mind-blowing - some quick flash fiction pieces to read through while drinking any of the cocktails mentioned in them.

The cocktails are all core basics and the recipes seem straightforward; I didn't try to build any so not sure how they actually fare.

I read this to try to start digging into my Kindle TBR backlog.

There is absolutely nothing I didn't love about this first installment. The prose is gorgeous, the characters engaging, the premise refreshing and the pace just right. I rarely finish a book in one read but this one kept me turning pages long into the night.

I'd absolutely recommend this read!

While I was very surprised at the abrupt change in tone from the first book in this series, I loved the way Tanzer included threads of lore that those who've read the first book could follow in the second. As always, Tanzer's characters are deep and so easy to fall in love with (or hate, as the case may be). I found this one to be a bit less exciting than the first, but was thrilled that the demons/monsters were so horrifying!

I'd definitely recommend giving it a go!
