Shuji Tamura

I am not sure how comprehensive this book is, since I didn't get much beyond s- and z-twisting the silk. It has a lot of information on how to figure out which direction to lay satin stitches to get various effects. There is also a section on traditional Japanese motifs. Much of this information can be used with other embroidery, especially crewel work and with thread that is already twisted for you.
