Marie Takvam (1926–2008)

Marie Takvam, née Skylstad, was born in Ørsta, in western Norway, and moved to Oslo as a child. She made her literary debut in 1952 with the poetry collection Dåp under sju stjerner. She produced numerous other collections of poetry, some plays, and two novels. She also wrote several children's books. In 1977, she played the lead role in Vibeke Løkkeberg's controversial film Revelation. She received the Swedish Academy’s Dobloug Prize in 1983, and the Nynorsk Literature Prize in 1997.
