American Prophet: The Story of Joseph Smith por Heidi S. Swinton
Written by someone outside the LDS church, this interesting book portray mormon founder Joseph Smith in his unique, frontier, American role.
This is an uplifting book about the life of a remarkable, Christ-like man. It's given me a lot to think about and a desire to emulate his unceasing efforts to reach and rescue the one.
Okay for an introduction to or a refresher in LDS history. Very much a standard documentary, with period pictures, voice-over "quotes" and narration, and a reasonable facsimile of the landscape at that time.
So far it seems balanced; the professors of history and religion (non-LDS) are skeptical but respectful.
Spokesmen for the Church are President Hinckley, Elder Oaks, and others, plus historians.
