I loved everything about this book. What a delight to find such beautiful drawings, descriptions, and lessons from 9 different gardens. I will be reading more by Vivian Swift!
illustrated art journal from author's decade spent not traveling, in small Village town on the Connecticut coast of the Long Island Sound; Mindfulness and staying home (by choice, after decades of world travel, and not for quarantine purposes) circa late 1990s-early 2000s.
lovely little vignette artwork (Swift is very skilled in various media: watercolor, ink/watercolor, ink, pencil, embroidery) paired with brief journal entries and collected tidbits/trivia from her time spent in practiced mindfulness. I liked the various lists and collections of things, and found this journal to be meditative and soothing as I dawdled over each thoughtfully composed, illustrated and hand-lettered page (before digital publishing software made this so easy).… (más)

A charming hand-illustrated travelogue of the author's travels by way of honeymoon up and down the north and west of France. Some of it is light as meringue but there are a few episodes that touch profundities concerning relationships and the meaning of why some people love to travel. It isn't all happiness and sunshine and bliss but the missteps along the way help keep things grounded. I read it as part of my preparation for my own vacation in France this year and found it charming.
I feel I can't truly rate this because the PDF I was reading seemed to be missing quite a few pages.
