Ju-Jitsu Self-Defense-A Selection of Ju-Jitsu and… por W. Bruce Sutherland
The scope of this book from Introduction
This book does not aim at giving a complete course of ju-jitsu as an athletic training. That would demand a certain gymnasium equipment and the services of a skilled instructor, together with the observance of such rules of diet, dress, etc., as are necessary for all such training. The course taught by the writer in his school extends to two hundred and fifty holds, locks, throws, counter, and grips. The purpose of this book is merely to describe and illustrate a number of ju-jitsu movements which can be readily learned and easily practised, and which are to be likely of most service to the classes of readers to whom we have referred. The number given, however, is sufficient to provide a very complete armour of defence against the ordinary dangers of attack.

AikiBib | May 29, 2022 | Fantastic cover design in colour - bobby dealing confidently with an assailant at knifepoint. Is he using the Force-back chin counter to throat hold? I think he is. The assailant still has knife in hand though. The book is of course about self defence and ju-jitsu in particular (the author is a Specialist in this) and includes a section on 'In the railway compartment' where dangers were once frequent due to the separate compartments and long journeys between stops, there were plenty of opportunities for assault and robbery.… (más)
