This book uses readings from various sources to illustrate various ways of being religious. The essays for each "way" arre divided into advocates, interpretations and criticisms. I found the idea that there are so many different paths interesting, but plowing through the essays in any kind of order was tedious at best. This would be better as a classroom book where only certain excerpts are assigned and discussed. The "ways" are: Rebirth through Personal Encounter with the Holy, Creation of Community through Myth and Ritual, Living Harmoniously through Conformity to Cosmic Law, Spiritual Freedom through Discipline (Mysticism), Attaining an Integrated Self through Creative Interaction, Achievement of Human Rights through Political and Economic Action, The New Life through Technocracy, and Enjoyment of the Full Life through Sensuous Expression… (más)
