3248. Why Did the Soviet Union Collapse? / Understanding Historical Change, by Robert Strayer (read Oct 2, 1999) This is an unpretentious book, and not bad, tho not attention-grabbing. He spends no time on the question which has always intrigued me: Why did none of the expert Kremlinologists, etc., tell us the Soviet Union would collapse in our lifetime before it did?
