The Incomplete Book of Australian Mammals
Just to make things really confusing the author, Ronald Strahan, has written an other book which is the "complete" book of Australian Mammals...and I have it as well. Actually, I think the artist might just as well have published the book by herself because I don't think Strahan's doggerel poetry adds to the book. In fact, I found it annoying. But I quite loved the illustrations ....both the finished art works and the ink sketches. And that's really why I bought the book. I read a few of Strahan's poems but didn't learn anything from them and i think they actually detract from what might otherwise have been a nice book for kids (with very few words needed) or for adults who might actually want a bit more real information. Three stars from me.… (más)
Superb illustrations and a very large number of mammals covered, At the back is an index of common names, but sadly no index of Latin names. For each entry there is a very short summary, perhaps too short. Habitat, where in Australia, Latin name, number of young, frequency of reproducing.
