For someone who has bought Penguins for most of their life and who has spent many happy hours in bookshops looking at covers, trying to decide which to buy next, this is an enjoyable saunter through seven hundred covers, with several books receiving more than one cover (Nineteen Eighty Four and Lolita spring to mind).
It is fun to see which books that you have in your library which have made it into this book and which covers you remember from far off days. As I have a fair number of older second hand Penguins, I do have representatives of the early covers, but some of the earlier titles shed interesting light on the social history of Britain in the twentieth century (for example several titles feature vegetable growing for shows I recall).… (más)
