This was a great book! This book really went into detail about microscopes. Not only did it talk about what microscopes are and how microscopes are used, but it also went into great detail about the different types of microscopes including the first microscopes that were built/used. I like how the book is divided up into tiny chapters for each subject. The book also contains real photographs for pictures which I really liked because it helps you get a better understanding of the microscopes.

This was a good informational text on Diabetes. I know the general information about what Diabetes is and how you treat Diabetes, however I was not too familiar with what causes Diabetes, what happens to your body when you have Diabetes and the exact treatment for Diabetes. After reading this book I was able to gain a lot more knowledge of Diabetes and understand how people live with Diabetes.

With this book, I focused solely on the part about fingerprints for an invitation that I had put together on fingerprint identification. It provided a limited amount of information on fingerprints so I supplemented it with the book, "Zoom in on Crime Scenes". I think this book is suitable for grades 4 and up because of its mature content.

As part of my ongoing research into the mental health system for my daughter, I came upon this book at the local library. It was an interesting read that presented four cases of various types of mental illness and how the sufferers were coping with everyday life. As this was my biggest concern for my daughter, I found the information in the book to be very useful and my husband wound up reading it as well. I was grateful for the author’s honest portrayal of how each person was not always coping well with their disease. Rather than paint a false picture, the author demonstrated that those who fight bi-polar, schizophrenia, OCD, and depression; constantly battle themselves daily to do the most mundane tasks. Small things such as getting dressed can be overwhelming on an off day.

I really absorbed this book and only wished that it gave more cases for the reader. I found the book to be just a little too short for me. There are many other mental illnesses that are becoming more well-known these days that I hope that the author will do an update and double the cases presented. Other than that I thought the book was an excellent resource for all parents or teachers that are struggling with someone who has a mental illness. It is not always easy, but there is hope with both medications and behavioral modification programs. I strongly recommend this book and hope other parents pick it up to read.
