A brief overview of Canada during the American Revolutionary War. There are so few books on the topic, this one is almost a must-read, though it is so thin that it can hardly tell the story of any individual elements.

The classic accounts of two pivotal moments in Canadian History. The first Riel rebellion was relatively bloodless, with the Federal government coming to understand how to deal with a set of difficulties in attaching the Prairies to the Eastern Provinces. The second go round was bloodier, and was a difficult moment for the Ottawa government, leading to it understanding some of the responsibilities of dominion governance. I regret that Prof. Stanley used the then popular term "Half Breed" for the now-popular and more accurate term, "Metis".… (más)
