Nursery Rhymes and Tales Volume I por Various
This book is one of the most comprehensive well put together children's books I have ever read. It has old classics and favorites, and a story for every child in every culture and region. While antiquated, the reader is able to find a strong moral or life lesson in nearly every story. This is a book I would not be afraid to read to a child, or a group of children to teach them to explore their creative minds.
I read these books when I was a kid in the late fifties-early sixties and loved them. I still have most of the set, but am missing volume 5. I would love to have a complete set for my grandkids. I believe we got these books when my parents bought a set of encyclopedias. I thought everyone had forgotten about them except me!
I wore the covers off these books when I was about 5 or 6 years old in the early 1950s. Vol. 1 must have been my favorite, since it's in the worst shape of any in the set. I wish I knew how my parents came to have this set, since there was no money in the house for books.
These books were great friends to me, as alive and real as the kids I played with in the neighborhood.
In 1948 they changed the cover from the green and gold shown in the picture to brick red. Mine is the brick red version.… (más)
