Full name Lady Eleanor Furneaux Smith (daughter of the F.E. Smith, 1st Earl of Birkenhead). She traveled Europe working with circuses and exploring Romany folklore, both of which provided material for her novels and short stories. Life's a Circus (published 1939) was her autobiography.

A shipwrecked passenger makes his way to an island. To his shock, there are others there. But as he talks to them, he realizes their stories don’t jive. And what they tell him seems impossible. Desperately wanting to escape the island, he forms a plan. This is a tale of never-ending horror, but it’s not until the very end that the reader will realize just how horrific it really is. Well worth reading, if you dare.

Three and a half stars,… (más)
