Ella Thea Smith

This is a post-Scopes trial biology textbook, but one in which evolution is covered admirably. Competing textbook publishers conspired to give Ms. Smith's book a black eye, labeling it as dismissive of evolution and vaguely anti-intellectual. In spite of this, Exploring Biology was a very popular text that went through many printings and wound up in the grasp of many school children over the years. Although this book came out in, I think, the 40's, this edition is from 1972.
