I really enjoyed this book. Took me a little bit to get into it but, then I was thoroughly hooked.
A very compelling story. Brought back memories of when I considered myself a runner. It says so much about more than running. the prejudices of the elites towards the slummers. Strikes a lot of chords with today's world. One of only a few books over the last couple of years that has brought me to tears, of both joy and sadness.
Highly recommended whether you are or have been a runner or not!

Packed full of adventure, mystery and never ending excitement, this is book is tons of fun to read.

Ethan, Jacob and Liz just got through their first adventure in book one and are met with an even more dangerous one just as the school year closes. If they thought the one in their classrooms and halls was tough, there's even something worse awaiting in Winslow Falls. If they want to stop the evil from lurking in, they'll need to decipher an ancient text and, even then, stay on their toes if they even want to have a whispers chance of making it through.

Often times, the second book in a series doesn't quite meet the expectations that the first one left off. That's not true of this series. The author has managed to notch things up a bit and pack in even more adventure and tension as the three heroes go up against a very sinister adversary. The plot thickens with every page, and the never-ending twists and turns make it hard to see what's coming next. Add in a few historical tidbits, and this is an exciting read...especially for those who enjoyed book one.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed the tale even more than I thought I would. So, I'm leaving my honest thoughts.

Fast-paced adventure story centered around an attempt to find a long-hidden treasure. The protagonists, Ethan, Jacob, and Liz, face off against the ruthless Ezra Raynard, who plots to divide the town of Winslow Falls into strict social castes. Readers new to the series may wish to seek out Bloodline, first book in "The Three Hares." A cliff-hanger finish to Reynard's Dream promises more peril and adventure to come.

Adventure, treasure maps, puzzles, secret societies and heroic moments make this a tale to thoroughly enjoy.

At the start of this tale, Ethan his best friend Jacob, are 14 years old and enjoying the good life in the nature camping and seeking adventure. When they return to their homes, Ethan's father announces he's giving up his job to stop an evil politician from becoming mayor. The father dies. A year later, Ethan and Jacob discover a treasure map in the attic which leads to a cave. And that's where the adventure really begins.

This novel starts with a scene to make especially boys' hearts beat faster—nature, camping on their own, fending for food and treasure hunting. The freedom, adventurous spirit, and simple fun grabs right before the author lets the first big tragedy hit. A little gets lost in the sudden one-year zoom forward, one being that the boys are then 15 and definite high school age. But this doesn't come across as a sheer Young Adult novel, rather one for upper middle graders/tweens. And it fits this age group perfectly.

There's a huge twist from normal boys to an adventure, which is not only larger than life, but holds many layers, secrets and danger. The switch was well done and guarantees to keep readers glued to the pages. The problem solving slides right in and makes readers think, while following Ethan and his friends as he learns about who his father really was and who he is supposed to be. It's a larger than life tale, which grabs and holds on until the very end.

The mystery is well done, and it's a treat to follow Ethan as he works his way through everything. Although the first chapters displayed Ethan as a little less mature, he and his friends grow during these pages. Their thoughts, feelings and actions come across fairly natural for their age group, and it's a treat to cheer them on.

I'm giving this one a 4.5 and rounding up. I received a complimentary copy and found this story refreshing and exciting enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.
