Entertaining, fast paced novel about three sleuths trying to catch art thieves in Seattle. However I didn't really like the characters' personalities. At least they managed to solve the mystery at the end.

This book was part of a basket I won in a raffle. Here's what I thought:
I found the main characters lovable and witty, and felt the storyline followed a creative trajectory. The bad guys were convincingly bad, yet at times I found myself rooting for them, and then at other times, when I encountered a twist, I found myself questioning whether or not I had it all wrong. In other words, it was an engaging story that kept me guessing until the end. The imagery was good, too. I could picture myself in the scene, searching for the speakeasy, spectating the "upper crust" at the high-end gallery, nibbling baguettes at the French cafe, sneaking around places they don't belong. Sigh. I hated these characters. I don't know if that's what Simms was going for, but these bratty, *devil-may-care" rich kids manage to get into real life trouble, with a huge hole in back stories as to who these three "friends?" are and how they met or literally anything that makes them redeemable or cheer-for-able. It also felt like this could be the second book in a story, because so much was implied or assumed (much like their self esteem and self aggrandizing ways.) I mostly just read it to hope that maybe there were some consequences to anyone's actions in this book, but there weren't.

If this is the future of authorship from my generation, I'd rather not read.

This was a quick, fun read. While it seemed the author was poking fun at mystery novel cliches, there were a few points where it was a bit over the top. The segue into the thief's confession was particularly jarring. This seemed less like satire and more like the author was stuck on how to get where they needed to be. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
