This was the first book I've read by Jack Silkstone. It wasn't a traditional genre that I would read, but I did really enjoy this. The main characters are likeable in their beliefs, actions and morals, and the war-oriented storyline was written in a way that was easy to follow. As I read the words, the descriptive nature of the text provided imagery in my mind that resulted in the story being run through like an action movie. I enjoyed getting to know the practical and human sides of Ice and Vance, and am definitely inspired to read more by this author, particularly in this series.… (más)

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Dating just got selective.

Mike Saunders is a SEAL dog handler with a knack for picking the wrong women. So much so that his SEAL buddies have planned a Girlfriend Selection Course to test the character of his next love interest. When he falls for the veterinarian rehabilitating his wounded Military Working Dog, things rapidly spiral out of control.

SEAL of Approval is romance meets action in a light-hearted love story with a serious twist. It is dedicated to the Military Working Dogs who have served, loyal and steadfast, alongside their handlers in the world’s deadliest conflict zones.

Jack Silkstone's background includes a career in military intelligence and special operations, working alongside some of the world's most elite units. A percentage of the sale of this book will be donated to a foundation that trains dogs to help servicemen and women who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Beautiful young women, believing that they are going to modeling opportunities are kidnapped and sold into slavery.

PRIMAL is an organization that his "...hell-bent on bringing justice to those who have evaded it." They are funded by a benefactor who is the CEO of a billion dollar logistics empire.

PRIMAL has a small group of operatives and uses the latest in technology and weaponry to bring down their opponents. Think of a team with four James Bond's.

The edge of seat action in "PRIMAL Fury" is thrilling as this small group of operatives is pitted against the Mori-Kai. The Mori-Kai is one of Japan's most ruthless and deadly families. They are behind the smuggling ring abducting the girls.

We follow the action of two of the abducted girls who are from Croatia. It seems cruel to see a young person's dreams bashed as these two women, like the others, thought they were going to a life as models with lots of glamour.

Karla, the younger sister is just seventeen. She seems particularly vulnerable. William Kurtz, a PRIMAL operative is stymied numerous times as he attempts to rescue her. When he first met Karla, Kurtz became emotionally connected to her and his over enthusiastic attempts at rescue almost spoil a number of situations.

The PRIMAL mission is to search for the smugglers' headquarters, rescue the young women and destroy the organization.

The action sizzles as it moves along. The odds seem against the forces of PRIMAL but with their bravery and superior technology, they overcome.

Recommended.

The CIA are working undercover to prevent terror attacks when they find out that they are the next target, rather than pack up and go home, two members of the team decide to find out what is going on and put an end to the attacks. Through this they are approached to set up a team that would fly under the radar, no government controlling them, all they have to do is rid the world of the ’bad guys’ with an unlimited budget, that was an offer they couldn’t refuse. We join Vance & Ice as they set up their ‘PRIMAL’ team and embark on their first mission. I liked the characters, I thought they were written really well and that the author did a fantastic job of setting the scene in his descriptions, it is fast-paced and kept my attention throughout. Overall I think the origin did its job, it has whet my appetite enough to make me want to read more of the series.

I have only ever listened to one audio book by Dick Hill, so I don’t really have much to compare it to, I thought he did a good job with it, the narration was clear and entertaining, I could follow which character was which with no difficulty at all and I even had a few laugh out loud moments, which was more due to Dick Hill’s narration than the writing. It is not a long audio book, easily listened to in a day. I found that I enjoyed the narration more on the second listen than I did originally, whether that was because it took a while to get used to the narration or because I gave it more attention, I’m not sure. Overall I enjoyed the audio book and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys military thrillers.
