Matthew 25's vision of the Last Judgment is cleverly adapted to the story of the Epiphany as a fourth wise man battles the elements and all manner of injustices on his way to Bethlehem only to arrive days late and empty-handed at the abandoned scene of the Nativity. It should be a crushing disappointment, but after a reassuring celestial vision and a chance meeting with some shepherds, he gives up spreading sagacity around and commits himself to rearing livestock instead.
