TOC and preface start this book and what to expect from it.
Food processing has changed over the years, benefits and drawbacks.
Public health objectives are also discussed comparing to third world countries.
Food fortification is when items are using other additives to enhance the flavor or your food and sometimes preserving it to last longer.
categories, there are a lot of them but they explain what they are and the part FDA has in all this.
Very good explanation of what is being put into your food and what it doesand why.
Side effects, allergies are also discussed if you have too much.
Foods to avoid are listed and why they are on the bad list.
Ten worst food additives, and they are not names you even can pronounce
Fast food additives are also listed with summaries of what to look for, even toys silly putty Ends with authors notes.
Very interesting to read through.

Mediterranean Snacks and Meals Eat, Drink and be Healthy the Green Way by C. D. Shelton
TOC where recipes are no tin any specific order.
Intro about the diet itself, history, food pyramid and what each step contains, shopping list.
Each recipe has a title and summary of the dish.
List of ingredients and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar and fresh vs canned products.
Directions are given how to make.
There is NO nutritional information, there are NO pictures or servings.
Analysis of the diet is discussed at the end.

Fiber: No Calories...But Vital
Book starts out explaining what fiber is in food forms and the problems we face today due to lack of it.
Has different sections for those with diabetis, heart disease and gastrointestinal illnesses.
Useful information.

I read this book a while ago from the LT earlier reviewers program. I'm sorry that it is taking so long to put up a review. I am writing from memory and apologize if I'm remembering the book differently than it appears. I was expecting something different from this book. I was expecting something like a step by step guide of how to succeed like using calendars, to do lists, ask for tutoring early and so on. Instead, this was written more in the style of a daily reader or meditations guide. I don't remember that the book could serve as any sort of reference, but could provide good topics to think about day by day. It wasn't a bad book; but the content, does not seem to match the cover and description. I think if expectations matched, it could be very well received.… (más)
