It's a good read. It helped me understand the plight of others at different points in their lives and gave me insight and tips as to what I can expect. In all, I liked her first passages book the best. Still glad I read both!
I picked this up at a library sale because I like Sheehy's books. I'm a little young for the book--but as a recent divorcee I found this book very inspiring. The book is full of stories and interviews with women who have found a more independent and passionate life after 50.
Interesting memoir by bestselling author Gail Sheehy author of a great number of bestselling books and culture-defining articles. A bonus for publishing historians is the inside look at the height of new journalism and the age of the magazine through her relationship with Clay Felker.
I read this book for the second time to update and expand the terrible Wikipedia article on Sheehy. She is important and deserved better coverage. I hope I've fixed that now.

We are so predictable. This truth comforts and confounds at the same time.
Written in the early 1970's, some references and examples are decidedly reflections of that time. However, the struggle to free-oneself from from the inner-custodian is universal. As my own struggle continues into my 50's, reading about others finding, or losing, their way in the process left me weary. Still worth the effort, but what an effort!… (más)
