This is the second book of the Brooklyn Kings and it takes us from Mikhail’s compound to Pierce taking Mila. Mila has endured so much in life she is no stranger to pain and torture so when Pierce tries to break her for information she is a steal trap. Pierce isn’t sure how to take Mila at first, all he can see is she is Russian so that makes her an enemy to the family. After what his sister was put through he has no love for anything or anyone Russian so Mila to him is guilty by default the thing is she was treated just as bad and is a victim too. Once Pierce sees Mila won’t break by fear and torture he tries another tactic of making her see her attraction to him. They both went through a lot growing up and Mila trusts no one but when feelings become more can Mila let go of her fear? Will she let her walls down and let Pierce in? Can Pierce see past his hate and realize that there is a lot more to Mila than he originally thought. With enemies rising from different directions can they escape unscathed and will Pierce’s family be accepting of Mila? This book dove deeper in the darkness of the mafia lifestyle and it also showed the reader that some things are not what you first judge them to be until you dig deeper. This series continues to be gripping and has me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next.… (más)

Jacob and Brenna have a duty to their families and in order to form an alliance they must enter into an arranged marriage. Neither Jacob or Brenna are excited about the situation and are dreaded it but it is something that must be done. Brenna has been sheltered as much as she possibly could by her mother from the family’s business but she shows so much backbone when it comes down to not only supporting her new husband but proving herself worthy to be by his side. Jacob ran from the family business 7 years ago after a tragic event cost him everything but now that his father is sick he has to return and step up to run the family. Jacob can be ruthless, tough, and know show to handle business as well as his men but what I loved most was even if at first he wasn’t thrilled with marrying Brenna he never once treated her badly nor degraded her. Jacob and Brenna become closer and start to have mutual respect for one another that turns to be so much more but with enemies breathing down their backs will they survive it? Will Brenna prove that she can be the Queen that Jacob deserves? I loved how Jacob was willing to burn the world down for her and she showed so much courage when things got dark. Such a great mafia romance that was fast paced and steamy. I can’t wait to read the next ones.… (más)

Francesca has suffered terribly at the hands of her family’s enemies and she still continues to live in her own world while she struggles from day to day. Gio has wanted nothing more than to be someone and he started by working his way up the family ladder, but at times he feels not good enough especially when it comes to his attraction to Francesca. Over the last year Gio has stood by as his attraction kept growing for her but he never felt like he deserved her, his home life was horrible and his mother was terrible so it was always in his head he was nothing. Both their mothers are horrible people out for themselves, cruel, and hurt their children in emotional ways. Gio’s mother brings about a secret during the worst possible time that changes so much. Can Gio balance a life in the family and being with a fragile Francesca and can Francesca find her inner strength to overcome her fears and pain? As she fights her demons that haunt her every single day Gio has to fight his own against those that seek to harm them and the family. I felt bad for Gio towards the end and the secrets that came to light. The guilty person leaking information definitely deserved a harsher sentence than what Gio asked for but that just shows how much he cares for Francesca and her feelings. These two were so perfect for each other and I am definitely curious to see what comes next from the Irish.… (más)

This book out of the series is a tad darker than the others and just as wonderful. We have Jack who meets Aurora at a wedding. He makes a move to kiss her and she knees him in the family jewels but it is a kiss that they both will remember for years to come. Aurora is promised to another man and being related to the head of the Italian mafia she is very off limits for Jack but when her secrets come to light Jack has this innate urge to whatever it takes to protect her. Aurora endures horrible things at the hands of her current husband but with no other options she has to go with it but she finds her inner strength as the story proceeds to help herself become stronger, healthy, and happy. Will Jack’s attraction with Aurora cause him a war with the Italians because of the pact they have with them? Can they find a way to get Aurora out of her horrible situation and make her safe? The chemistry they have is so much there but with so much against them will they find a way to be together? This book was emotional and Jack was pure perfection. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.… (más)
