For too many years, there was little of substance in English about this titan of film. Subsequent to Ms Seton's efforts, there has been no small stream of material, much of it good, but little of it quite capturing the sense of youth, discovery, and of-course danger, not merely in the Soviet cinema, but in the broader world as well. With the benefit of hindsight, and all that additional documentation of which I just wrote, one sees clearly the omissions which previously one had only intuited. Still, this is an indispensable book for any serious student of film or or the history of Soviet culture.… (más)
