- Phyllis Serota was born in Chicago. As a child she attended classes at the Art Institute in that city. She later went to the University of Victoria and graduated with a BFA in 1979. Since 1977, Serota has exhibited extensively throughout western Canada and the United States. She currently lives in Victoria, British Columbia.
