Far distant ships : an official account of Canadian… por Joseph Schull
This book was originally published in 1950, and for decades served as the operational history of the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII. The prose is occasionally fast-paced and a bit sensational, and now, however there is a two-volume and duller more official version being published.
Gunner John Gordon Anderson, my late father, saw action in the WWII Atlantic theatre; his gunboat "The Ribble" is included in this fairly exhaustive naval history of the wartime activities of Canada's naval forces (and the Allied and enemy ships with which they came into contact).
