Dr. Phillip Schott is back with more entertaining animal stories from his life as a small animal veterinarian. Though the majority of his patients are cats and dogs, he has treated some rather unusual pets, including a python. He talks candidly about his patients and their owners, and what being a vet really means. This behind-the-scenes look at the profession is quite interesting and enlightening, and may make you appreciate your own vet even more than you already do. Some of these intriguing tales are humorous and others are sad, but all will tug at your heart. The bond between pets and their owners is a strong one that never fades, even when they are separated by death. It is this connection that Dr. Schott has so eloquently captured in these essays.… (más)

Though mainly a small animal veterinarian, Dr. Phillip Schott has had more than a passing acquaintance with other types of animals. He recalls with entertaining humor some of his more intriguing cases. An expert with ultra sound techniques, he has been called on to scope out some rather exotic animals. He talks about how the pandemic changed some of their methods, and shares some of the strange requests people have made. Some stories are humorous, others are sad, but all are worth reading.

Doctor Phillips Schott recalls some of his more interesting cases practicing as a small animal veterinarian. He has treated friendly animals and unfriendly ones, and some rather unusual ones. He recounts how he kind of stumbled into veterinary science. And its easy to see that his patients are lucky that he did. He believes that his practice is really one of dealing with people who happen to have pets rather than the other way around. His well-written essays are entertaining and charming, and readers will undoubtedly learn something from them, like how to pill a cat. Or maybe not. Sigh.… (más)

Dr. Peter Bannerman, a professional veterinarian and an amateur sleuth, is called to examine an ostrich who ate something she shouldn’t have. He successfully operated on Big Bird and removed a rather strange but beautiful object that looked like a Viking artifact. Never one to let a mystery go unsolved, Peter delves into research. Then a series of animal mutilations, again strangely executed, grabs his interest. It becomes personal when his own beloved dog falls victim to the perpetrator. This is the second novel in this mystery series. Quite well written with interesting characters, I was hooked on the story from the very beginning. The story kept my interest throughout, and the surprise ending wrapped up everything nicely. I look forward to the third book in this enthralling series.… (más)
