Der König von Helsinki: oder wie ich der ber… por Roman Schatz
The only reason why I read this book is that it's written in German and it didn't seem too difficult for my level so, in all honesty, I wasn't expecting it to be anything but entertaining. But for the life of me this book was so average that I cannot even forgive all the sexist bullshit, the racist remarks, the cheap generalizations that are supposed to be humorous but that are so basic that at times it they can only be cringeworthy. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Over the past few years, I became to love Schatz (pun intended :P), but I guess with this one I started of on the wrong foot. It reminded me a lot about From Finland With Love / Suomesta, rakkaudella. In that way I was rather disappointed, but then suddenly the book took a turn for the better and ended up quite liking the total package! (The illustrations by Pertti Jarla are a nice bonus, too!)
Suomensaksalaisen Schatzin luultavasti osin fiktiivinen omaelämänkerta on mielenkiintoista, hauskaa, pieniin välähdyksiin ositeltua luettavaa. Schatz on toisaalta sympaattinen veijari, toisaalta sovinistinen raikulipoika. Huumori kukkii koko matkan saksalaisesta pikkukylästä suomalaiseksi menestyskirjailijaksi, ja monesti saa nauraa jopa ääneen.
Schatzin havainnot Suomen yhteiskunnasta ja lähihistoriasta ovat osuvia, kuten maahanmuuttajan ensivaikutelmat voivat monesti olla. Havainnot naisista taas ovat melko katkeria. Näinkö tosiaan käy, jos poika kasvaa ilman äitiä?… (más)

Paljon paremmin ei Suomea kai voisi kuvailla kuin saksalaisperäisen Schatzin näkökulmasta?
