Vijaya Schartz does a wonderful job of bringing India to life in such a way that I could close my eyes and imagine myself there. I enjoyed the details of life in the ashram and the glimpse into the Hindu religion.

This story of reincarnation and soul mates who have to work through their past and balance their karma kept me riveted until the end.

I love the historical details Vijay brings into this series. It puts me right there and I feel like I'm stepping back in time, entering the scenes. The clash of the pagan ways and the ways of those trying to bring Christianity to the people brings much conflict into the story, as the queen tries to unite all the people, whatever their belief. Vijaya Schartz does a wonderful job of reaching back into time and blending history with fiction. This story of the early Vikings and Scottish people caught me up in it. I confess that as a member of the Maxwell clan, Dumfries is a setting which draws my interest as it is near our clan castle Caerlaverock. I enjoyed this first book in the series and the mystical elements and am looking forward to reading book two next.
