Ross Santee (1888–1965)

Ross Santee knows what he's talking about, although he isn't above spinning a tall tale now and then. His approach to the Apaches appears to honest. He interviewed many eyewitnesses to the Apache wars in Arizona and Mexico and whether he intended to or not appears to feel empathy for the plight of the Apaches. His drawings in all his works are stark, but tell the story.
