First and foremost this is not retelling of Truman Capote's book about gruesome murder of entire family in 1959. Goal here is to present the Capote, novelist and story writer from New York as he tries to talk with the both police and incarcerated murderers in Kansas to collect the materiel necessary to write one of his most famous books - "In Cold Blood". Capote with his extravagant clothes and big-city attitude was so much out of place in Kansas that it took some time for him to acclimatize and finally be able to openly talk about the murders with police, people in the city and murderers themselves. Faced with gruesomeness of the murder itself and grief of relatives and friends of murdered family Capote was scarred forever.

Authors decided to concentrate on Capote himself. To do this they removed from the picture people that worked very closely with Capote (especially here I mean Harper Lee) and concentrate solely on Truman.

With this approach the investigation of the murder is put out of the focus in this graphic novel- as a matter of fact if you don't know anything about the case you will definitely be puzzled. This is story of Capote and his internal struggle with murder and everything around it. Everything else is removed.

Art is very good and manages to present the reader with those minutiae that are essential for a story like this but often present quite a challenge for the graphic presentation.

So if you are looking for investigative journalism like story this will not be it. If you are looking for a insight into the psyche of a very interesting person then this is book for you.

Let me put it this way--if you don't care about continuity errors, coherency, or actual ANSWERS to who Shepard Book was...this is fine. Too much of what is in the book does not mesh with what we learned in the series (or movie). Much as how the opening of Serenity (the movie) completely ret'conned how River got out of the Institute, this book tried to give us an alternative to how Book became Book. Sadly it just didn't make sense.

This version of Thor's Marvel origins is sooo good (and it is similar to the plot of the first MCU Thor film) and it is so great for an all-ages book (that just so happens to be a well-written and fun origin story). And Samnee's art is one of the best modern interpretations of a classic superhero comic style.

Thor: The Mighty Avenger is a wonderfully accessible piece of work that provides a brilliant introduction to Marvel’s take on the classic Norse God of Thunder. However, it remains a tragedy that this is one of very few efforts to provide such a comic, and also that Thor: The Mighty Avenger came to such an unceremonious end, cancelled after only eight issues.

Thor is sent to earth to learn humility (Thor has always been naively arrogant). Thor: The Mighty Avenger might embraces a more upbeat and optimistic vision of Marvel characters than most comic readers have come to expect, that doesn’t mean the comic is simplistic or under-written or suited only for a younger audience. Thor is well-intentioned, but he’s also consistently portrayed as stubborn and arrogant. Despite the fact he’s fundamentally a decent guy, we can see why he might need to learn humility, which turns his journey into one that anyone can identify with.

If you're new to Thor comics or haven't read this one yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up.

This was pretty OK. The art was a bit primitive and the only Firefly character in it for more than a page or two (obviously) was Book, but it worked. The interesting convention of starting with the end of Book's life and working backward was effective. Telling the same story forward, it would be more difficult for the reader to identify with the character, because we mostly know him from his latter days. I'm glad his story has been told, however briefly (and still somewhat cryptically).
