As I began to read the story my 1st reaction was a darling Christmas cozy mystery short story especially for all readers who love kittens with sprinkles of a new romance in the air.

However, with (c)2016, it is already beyond the time when a female should have been described at length as a "stereotypical librarian." Later there is a description of a suspected shoplifter because of the clothes he is wearing. However cute the story, I absolutely cannot support the work of anyone who is helping to perpetuate stereotyping in any format.

I will not continue reading the work of this author.

Very cute Christmas Cozy. As a light read it would be worth reading the others. The world needs this kind of make-believe. This would be good for anyone, school age and up.

Oliver is a sergeant with Winnipeg Police Services who is working on the Calendar Killer case. This person is attacking and killing women on the 21st of every month. As that date approaches the WPS are pushing to find the killer. Leandra is a reporter for Central and Western Canada Broadcasting who is trying to get a quote from Oliver for a story. But she doesn't have any luck. So she changes tactics and asks about the possibility of former WPS Sergeant Ryan Zane getting a reduction in his sentence for gun-smuggling in exchange for his testimony in a related case. This got his attention. Oliver and Leandra agree to share information. The longer they work together the harder it becomes for them to fight their attraction so they eventually stopped trying.

This book is so well written that it was easy to follow the story line. And what a story! I kept wondering - Will they catch the Calendar Killer? Will Leandra be able to prove she didn't leak classified information? Will they get together?

I really like these characters. Leandra is a strong, feisty reporter who was constantly digging for more information sources for her stories. I liked the way she dug into stories so she could report absolutely everything. You have to love a tough cop like Oliver. He, too, dug deep to get leads but was surprised when Leandra found out things he hadn't heard. I love a tough man that turns all soft with a woman like he did with Leandra.

I love this author's writing so I'm so glad I got a complementary copy of this book. Please note that I am reviewing it on my own. Not because I was asked to.
