Take me to Doon Island. Okay it's a romance novel. It has some great romances in it. But Rosetti transported me to Ireland and now I want to go there for real. We readers tries to be transported and Rosetti’s descriptions succeeded in taking me away. And she chooses a great destination for her readers.
The author spoke to my group, so I bought this novel without it being my typical genre. But I found the characters and their journeys engaging. Rosetti has all the ingredients for a great romance. Bright, independent women, Check. Rough around the edges men that make it so hard to love them. Check. Interesting escapades, and funny quips. Check.
Dog? Yep.
But I want to talk about my journey. I enjoyed going to the beaches, farms, and pubs of Boon island. I really enjoyed the trip the two love interests take so that I can explore Edinburgh with them. The author’s descriptions and details made me feel like I took a little vacation.

A page turner

This is an account of The Ludlow Massacre as seen through 12-year-old Katie Scully. When her father is killed in a mining accident, she dresses as a boy to work as a coal breaker. Just as she gets accustomed to this rough, harsh world and begins to get her family out of their dire financial situation, a strike is called.

Rosetti tells this important history through fictional characters and some of the real people of the events. She does a masterful job of showing the terrible events without dwelling on them enough to scare a younger reader. Yet the author does not shy away from tragedy. In fact, it is told as the main character would see it. Terrible, but a fact of life in these tragic times.

I enjoyed the relationships Katie develops as she lives in a tent city in the winter. We should all know more about The Ludlow Massacre, and Rosetti takes us to the place where we should study it from. Amongst the people trying to survive and battling a world against them.

I bought this book as a supporter of Wisconsin authors. No, actually, I bought past books of Rosetti for that reason. I bought this one because she tells great stories. As a teacher, I would recommend this book and look forward to buying some hard copies.

Again Juliet Rosetti has given us a hilarious and totally entertaining adventure involving the always adorable Ben and Mazie. As always things aren't going right for Mazie. She's broken things off with Ben, she's gotten fired from her job, and oh yeah, a motorcycle gang has kidnapped her. If you are looking for a good light read this one is perfect! Very entertaining and laugh out loud funny. I highly recommend it.

It's another hilarious adventure when Maize goes home to the farm! Trouble can find this character no matter what and it makes for a very entertaining read. The writing keeps the story moving along and the zany cast of characters are incredibly entertaining. For a fun light hearted read I recommend this one.
