Although football may be America's game, hockey reigns supreme in Minnesota. Blades of Glory tells the story of the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars 2000-2001 varsity hockey team. Because of his unlimited access to the team as well as conversations with the coaches and parents, Rosengren presents all sides of the players lives, including academic, family, social, and personal issues. He explores how the player's lives affect their hockey games as well as how hockey affects their lives.
