Typical lesfic books obsess over finding 'The One'--that elusive soulmate for life. This book obsesses over finding 'The One' too--that perfect, glorious, mind-altering 'O' so powerful they reduce one to tears (author's words ;) ).

Paige Burton experiences one mind-shattering night in a party with an anonymous masked woman while visiting New Orleans. For the next several years, no one has managed to top it or even come close. As her way of coping, she puts out a blog reviewing sex toys and dances in her own nightclub and does nightly battles with her evil orange cat. Fate pushes her into the path of self-made billionaire Mayson Montgomery--tall, tanned, buff--and lifted straight out of a Harlequin romance but with upgraded finances and the right gender, of course. The two ladies have a history, and because of it Paige carries a huge chip on her shoulder. But what neither of them know, is that that they know each other much more intimately than that.

The plot is quite implausible but it's a lot of fun and a little angsty. This is an erotic novel so check your logic at the door and enjoy the ride... and remember to hang on.

If you loved the [b:The Night Off|12921354|The Night Off|Meghan O'Brien|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328743887s/12921354.jpg|18076602], you'll definitely enjoy this. No BDSM here though, just erotic games.

5 stars for the erotica, 4 for everything else. And props to BSB for that incredibly gorgeous cover!

P.S. Whats with the one-star reviews? Get this book with your eyes open. This is F/F erotica that actually has an interesting if predictable plot, good characterization, some angst, lots of humor and is at least long enough to not feel like a rip-off. :)

Most lesbian fiction that I've read starts with a friendship/relationship build up and then eventually gets to the sex, this book was most definitely the opposite in its construction. (Perhaps I've been reading the wrong lesbian fiction books.)

It's the story of Paige, the owner of a night club who also still dances there. She also also runs a blog as X, a woman who is looking for sex that will be as amazing as she once had in a masked party six years or so before. The other main character is Mayson, a billionaire owner of a Wind Turbine company that she created and built from the ground up. She also has a disaster relief charity as well.

The back stories and multiple places that their histories intersect made me have to suspend quite a bit of disbelief, but, they also made the story (on a purely fictional plane) really, really interesting.

Then there was the Mayson as Vinden and Paige as X sort of subplot, sort of story that wove through the 'main' story. They were woven in and out in a natural way that kept me guessing where everything was going to end up. And the slow reveal that the author had Mayson trying to do was masterfully written. I wasn't sure until the end if it all was going to work out or not.

The characters were pretty well written as well. From the main characters to the secondary and minor ones to even the Evil Orange Cat. The Orange Cat was actually one of my favorite characters in the story. And the relationship between the Orange Cat and Paige was just priceless.

I do have to say that one of the things that wasn't as great in the story was the fact that I felt unmoored locationally for most of the book. I didn't even realize until the end that it took place in Florida.

There was a bit more sex than I usually run into in lesbian romance fiction titles, but, it was very well written and so I have to say that it wasn't a bad thing at all.

I really liked this book. It was an interesting ride and different than most of the other lesbian I've read recently.

I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books.

I do not usually read F/F romance, just not my preference. However, I have a read a few novels with F/F subplots, mostly in the science fiction field. This is a standard romance. The author takes her time in building out the meeting between the two protagonists – so the reader gets to know them as they get to know each other without the "love at first sight, committed lovers by the second glance" problem. It’s slow and seductive. The author also uses small details to make world seem real, and her writing is evocative. Ashley “fought with several outfits” before deciding what to wear on her date. Most women can relate to this –whether gay or straight! I also like how the story alternated between Ashley and Victoria – letting me into the mind of each woman. The sex scenes here are frequent and varied. The author doesn’t coast using the same clichéd words in every encounter, but I too felt the constant profanity distracted from the story. I also thought the idea of one of the women being an erotic writer and using her own encounter as inspiration for her writing was an interesting story device. It was cleverly done and built angst into the story.

Overall, I found this a quick read but not up to the quality of romance writers like Radclyffe or fiction that happens to have an F/F romantic subplot.
