Vin Cooper is no longer an OSI agent. He is now leading a small team in Syria putting in place navigation beacons. A relatively simple job but that is until he is called upon to complete a rescue when a helicopter carrying the Russian president crashes in his area of operation. All hell has broken loose when the president is captured by a high value ISIS leader. Vin's job is no longer as simple as the President of the US tries to make it seem. If it's not one thing getting in his way it's another. It all makes for an action read.

However, I just feel as if there was too much back room narrative and not enough of Vin being Vin. It is still a good read and very recommended.

Exciting thriller, somewhat over the top, but a fun read that moves well. Engaging characters, a couple cartoonish, but all coming together to keep things interesting.

Generally pretty good, if somewhat overly convoluted. Abrupt ending that is highly implausible. Left with the feeling of "is that all there was?"
Encourages a look at another thriller by David Rollins.

There was suspense (red herrings and curve balls) and chemistry (enough to show the human aspect of things without getting overly mushy). I didn't know that this was the third book in the Vin Cooper series, so there was some back story (character expansion) that I didn't know about. Nonetheless, the way the story began and developed, I admired the way (I imagined) the author to have thought about and laid out the draft for this book in the writing of its predecessor, and the way the story ends (like a season-ender cliffhanger), how the elements have already been laid out for the succeeding book, which I look forward to reading -- after I've familiarized myself with Books 1 and 2.… (más)
