- A born expatriate, Linton Robinson lived much of his early life in Asia, cultivating a lifelong taste for the third world and appreciation of frontiers. A writer from grade school and publisher/editor in high school, he has been a professional writer since his early twenties, winning awards as a journalist and feature writer for magazines like Harpers, American Photographer, Science, and Penthouse, as well as urban newspapers from Washington to California. Since the late eighties, Lin has lived in Mexico, Latin America, and the California border area. He writes for publications in Mexico and is author of several books on Mexican travel, Spanish, and Mexican slang, as well as volumes of poetry.

Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us so that all those lovers out there better get hopping to find that perfect gift for their significant other. Linton Robinson and Karla Telega have compiled a hilarious collection of anecdotes, short stories, and other catchy trivia in “My Funny Valentine.”
Some great old one-liners that have survived through time:
“What the world really needs is more love and less paperwork”…Pearl Bailey
“Love is what you’ve been through with somebody.”…James Thurber
“Love is an electric blanket with somebody else in control of the switch.”…Cathy Carlyle
A collection of short stories normally would not be that entertaining, but what these editors found was a collective theme of funny humor, which partners can read to each other and enjoy a rib-tickling guffaw. Some are corny as all get out, but as you page through and find others, you ignore the shortcomings.
A review that ignores these two love poems would be incomplete. After reading them to my wife, we both had a hearty laugh!
A poem by woman
Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who’s not a creep,
One who’s handsome, smart and strong,
One who loves to listen long,
One who thinks before he speaks,
One who’ll call not wait for weeks,
I pray he’s gainfully employed,
When I spend his cash, won’t be annoyed,
Pulls out my chair and opens my door,
Massages my back and begs to do more,
Oh! Send me a man who’ll make love to my mind,
Knows what to answer to ‘how big is my behind?’
I pray that this man will love me to no end,
And always be my very best friend.

I pray for a deaf-mute gymnast nymphomaniac with huge boobs
who owns a bar on a golf course, and loves to send me fishing and
drinking. This doesn’t rhyme and I don’t give a d---.

Reminders before Valentine’s Day come from all nooks and crannies so that you guys out there can stay out of the doghouse. If you want to give a book like this, there is plenty of space on the inside front cover for you inscribe it to your lover! Interestingly, the costs of this book is not much more than a card or a small box of chocolates, so get with it fellas and gals and try something new for Valentine’s Day, and you might see miracles appear. This is a five star book for that funny bone of yours!… (más)

If you're looking for a highly entertaining book, this is definitely it. Assuming the reader is in the right mood, the book can really make the reader laugh. The characters are surprising and quirky, the author creates them so as to make them very memorable. There are quite a few situation discussed that will cause the reader to raise his/her eyebrow. The author definitely has both a sense of humor and a quick wit to create dialogue that flows so well and so humorously.
The book isn't all fun and games. The author includes a fair amount about the real Mayans and Mexico's heritage. The reader should find this information very interesting and informative. The information is well-integrated and does not read even remotely like a history book. The names of the characters might take a while to learn the pronunciation-but that is only for a few names. Overall, the reader will easily associate the correct name to the correct character, he/she will stick out about a quarter of the way into the novel.
This book is recommended for adult readers. There is enough action to keep the plot moving along at a steady pace and the dialogue is just plain great.… (más)

Cole and Bunny have been together for awhile. Their trusty friends Bogart and Flathead (aptly named) have possibly a gnat’s brain between them with Flathead being the smart one. Bikers to the3 core and always on the lookout for a score; they help save friends through interesting inventions of Bogart’s and assist a wanna-be embezzler out of town.
About the embezzler……well, you’ll find out because you will NOT be able to resist buying this one. What a wonderful book, laughed my self silly!… (más)
