I want to make this clear, I do not like leaving poor reviews. However, this book is just one big story about a masquerade party. With little increments here and there of a different person perspective. I found it tedious. I wanted to connect with the author's, but it was extremely hard to do so when all they keep talking about is this masquerade ball. It was like masquerade, masquerade, masquerade , sex. Honestly this is not appropriate behaviour for a 16 year old's birthday party, but I can look past that. Who knows, maybe her parents are freaks. I wanted to read this book because two of my favourite authors are included in this book. And their stories are further on inside the book. On my tablet it shows it to be over 600 pages long. I'm sorry but I do not want to read 600 pages of a masquerade ball. We get it. It's an overly sexualized teenage girls birthday party. And it's disgusting. There's only so much you can do and get away with at a 16 year old girl's birthday party. I feel horrible writing this. But honestly, I wish that they had just touch base on this party... And then moved on to something else. Maybe they met up at the party and then left. Unfortunately I've read three stories into it and so far they're all the same. The first story was confusing, because it implied that the girl attended Columbia and yet they start making NYU references. So that confused me right off the bat. that almost threw me off the book completely but I decided to give it another chance. And it's still lost me with the Morgan situation. Because honestly I thought Morgan was a guy. Yes in a dress, but hey it happens. For now I am going to skip ahead, read the two authors that I wanted to read in the first place, and then leave the book alone. I tried to recommend it to my sister-in-law but even she agrees with me. Something not right about this book. I commend all the authors that got together for this book, but at the same time I think a little variety would have been a lot better.… (más)

Hmm...Well this is a different sort of beast. It's not romance. It's not erotica. It's not romantic suspense. But it has elements of each. It's dark and rather twisted. But compelling. Don't read it for the sex 'cuz there's hardly any. It kind of ends in the middle of things without even an HFN much less an HEA. There is obviously to be a sequel which I'm going to have to read to find out if he redeems his humanity and if her tough and capable side wins out over her sweet and love hungry side.

Very readable and well written though.

Dark Fairy Tales is, a collection of stories that are suppose to be similar to fairy tales.

I would give Dark Fairy Tales by C.J. Roberts a one star review because, these stories aren't fairy tale retellings nor are their dark sure their is, some facts that are a little dark but this book is, purely erotic stories with a little background. I was truly disappointed by this book.

I chose this book after hearing about it from a friend. It was an interesting read. The author did a good job bringing you into the characters. I found Caleb to be more likable than I thought he would be. With this story we are brought into the world of Master/Slave and Human Trafficking. Two different worlds that collided though, I wouldn't doubt this collision happens frequently in real life. Livvie, (sometime referred to as Pet most often as Kitten), is a young woman who is captured for her beauty and her innocence. She is to be made into a sex slave and will be used in a revenge plot. Livvie was a damaged child that left her vulnerable but also a survivor. Caleb is her kidnapper and Master of her training. He is a man of several levels. Much like Livvie he was a damaged child who was forced to survive. On some level he loves Livvie and is teaching her survival as much as he is teaching her to be a sex slave. Both characters are complex. The story line by itself is average. The two characters are what makes this book so interesting. You want Livvie to be the survivor yet you worry what that will do to her. Learning of Caleb's upbringing makes him so much more than the cold, indifferent man who kidnaps women to train and sell them. The psychological makeup of both characters intrigued me. Though the story line was average to me, I have to know more about the characters. The sexual scenes were well written without going overboard. Livvie must stay a "virgin" for the auction yet must have sexual knowledge. More psychological complexity. I am on to the second book in this trilogy. I recommend the book to adult readers who are interested in human trafficking, submissive/dominant relationships and are not easily offended.… (más)
