Lara Ríos (1934–)

Lara Ríos is a Costa Rican writer of books for boys and girls. She uses that pseudonym, but her real name is Marilyn Echeverría Zürcher. He has written thirteen books. The first is called Cotton Candy and is a collection of poems that won the 1975 Carmen Lyra National Prize. He wrote a book on the indigenous Cabécares that was on the IBBY (International Board of Books for Young People) Honor List and was translated into Thai. He also received the J. Acheo J. Echeverría National Prize for the book The Music of Paul, which was translated into French and English. He is a member of the Costa Rican Academy of Language. She is married with four children and twelve grandchildren. Lives in San José, Costa Rica.
