This is a short cozy mystery with Kelly, Grandma Iris and Buddy. There are some joy rides and a hit and run. It is fun to see how Kelly figures this one out while Grandma Iris is sick. I love the ending. I love the wit throughout. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
This is a fun cozy mystery that features Kelly and her Grandma Iris. Kelly must solve her killed an old friend or her cousin might go to jail. This is a quick and well thought out tale. I reluctantly finished reading this book. But I will NOT be reading any more in this series.
The dysfunctional relationship that Lisa Chance has with her parents and her aunt is painful to read about. Made worse by Lisa`s parents splitting up after 30 years of marriage. Lisa refuses to go into the realty business with her mother and starts up a Cafe instead.
A movie set comes to Lisa`s home town in Arizona and the star actor dies in a shooting that should have been used with prop guns but instead a real gun with a real bullet was used. (shades of Brandon Lee who was mentioned) So both the prop master and the supporting actor doing the shooting are suspects. It just so happens that the supporting actor was Lisa`s EX-boyfriend who still hankers after Lisa. I think he just didnt like the fact that Lisa left him after catching him in bed with his agent!!
So Lisa starts asking questions. Who had a motive to cause problems for the film crew. The director is in debt. The lead actor was flirting with and propositioning every female he would see. He also did not like taking no as an answer from Lisa. The ex-boyfriend also did not like Lisa saying No to him either.
The supporting actor asks Lisa for help since he is an EX-boyfriend and Lisa agrees to help. She seems to like being manipulated. If I were Lisa, I would have said NO and told him to get himself a lawyer.
I skipped some of the later chapters just to find out who dunnit.

She had worked for many years as a barista in Los Angeles and so she decides to start up her own cafe shop. In Los Angeles she had made ONE commercial for which she was receiving royalties. So Lisa decides to use that money to open up her own cafe in the old homestead of one of the founding families of that town.
Turns out that man who supposedly sold Lisa that old house was a con man and when he was later found dead, Lisa is the only suspect. So she sets out to prove her innocence and to maybe get her money back.… (más)
