A grand story and plot! I started out loving this book. I had a time of feeling preached and hectored at as Sydney learned. I was frustrated that in this book, as in life, the choice of choices are not of one's own choosing! I ended perfectly satisfied with this book.

from the author - "What do you do when your best is never good enough?
When the man you adore doesn't know you exist?
When the goddess Venus promises to teach you everything she knows about life and love with only one small catch--one of you will be dead by morning?

After the death of her beloved best friend and 18 months of trying to "find herself," Sydney goes to bed with a desperate plea to any god or goddess listening to help her wake up to a whole new kind of day.

Big. Mistake.

In this fascinating romp between the mundane world and the realms of the gods, what begins as a fun little bargain to nab a hot guy soon becomes a race to the death with a winner-takes-all finish line. Who will walk into her own version of happily ever after... a has-been Goddess or an ordinary woman who dares rise to the challenge of redefining beauty on her own terms?"

__________

This book was amazing. I had a little bit of a hard time getting into it, just because my schedule wasn't conducive to long stretches of reading, and it was completely not what I had expected. But once I did have time to sit down... wow. I felt like my whole spirit and mind were opening up, and I had to force myself to slow down and really absorb every word. I woke up the day after staying up late to finish it feeling... different, and alive and more aware, and wanting to dance. Of course, that may have been helped by all the fresh air, exercise, and sunshine I had the same weekend... but there is no denying that Robin is a powerful and gifted writer, and this book had a profound effect on me.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review, but it would have been more than worth the price if I had paid for it. In fact, I went to amazon and downloaded three more of her books.
