Bone Voyage is a very professional book, loaded with case studies, pictures of skeletons and a few bodies (i wanted to warn anyone who might be sensitive to that). This would be a wonderful primer for a beginning criminal justice student or for someone interested in a medicolegal field.

Mr. Rhine spends much of the book teaching why anthropologists should be the ones to handle and to consult regarding bones - so that mistakes are not made, evidence is not lost and misconceptions are not given out. He also covers the ways skeletons can be difficult to read, the ways they can trick the novice and the way the environment or trauma can affect them.

It's difficult for me to say that I greatly enjoyed it. It had its moments, especially with Mr. Rhine's dry wit. I'm sure he's a good professor and probably even a good conversationalist. But even with that, I did feel a little overwhelmed with the subject matter at times.
