William V. Reynolds

This is the story of Henry, the oldest son of Gus and Eva. I hated to see this series end. The author has a writing style that keeps you turning page after page, even when the only thing happening is day to day life.

The follow-up to River Pilot. This story tells the tale of Eva's life after Gus' death.

I've come to feel that Reynolds is writing about my family. I feel a part of each page, as if I actually lived through each event. Make sure you read the books in order.

Based on the life of the author's ancestors, this book tells the story of Gus and his wife, Eva. Gus pilots rafts down river to the mill and seems to have the river running through his veins instead of blood. It's a great read that I found hard to put down. There is nothing really heroic in the tale, just life on the river and life of a family that depends on the river. This is a great series! Make sure you read the books in order.
