This is a must read for any one interested in the history of hermeneutics during the Middle ages. The author cannot cover 1000 years of Interpretation in 1 volume, therefore he selected few contributors whom he found essential. I enjoyed reading the exegetical examples for some of the most controversial passages in Scripture from this period. Biblical interpretation as tradition characterized the Medieval period.
Reading about the history of interpretation is a challenge. This 1st volume is specially challenging since it deals with inner biblical exegesis, Jewish and early Christian interpretations.
