Not the most riveting read, but certainly interesting enough for a kid. There are a few inaccuracies when it comes to translating the Latin phrases on the coins, but other than that it’s cute. I wouldn’t recommend this book on its own - better as an add-on gift if given with a piggy bank of some kind.

A little boy plays with his grandma's box of buttons - sorting them, imagining where they came from, playing a matching game. This rings true to the way that little kids can be fascinated by grown-ups' collections of small, everyday objects.

Last page is "Buttons, Buttons, Who Invented Buttons?" with an interesting history (did you know that buttons were invented long before buttonholes?)
