Great book for young children. Very much like real life, sometimes as children we don't get along with our siblings.

This is a sweet and simple book on the Indian cultural celebration of Raksha Bandhan.
It is a very nice intro into this festival, however it is the full description given at the end about Raksha Bandhan that really tells you what this celebration is about and I would have rather wished that it would have come a bit more from the story itself.
I found the characters all very relatable and charming, and the illustrations are strikingly colourful and very cute.

Reading Rakhi: A Promise to protect to my children was a delight. Most siblings struggle some days to get along or find common ground. The beauty of learning about Rakhi is that my children are now kinder to one another. The book has wonderful messages on the importance of sibling love and warmly illustrated providing a delightful reading experience.

This is a book about sibling love and the holiday in India that celebrates that love. The characters in the book are very realistic - I remember fighting with my brother in much the same way! I love that Anitha Rathod's characters behave in such imperfect ways. After all, this is the way children interact with each other at times. But she also shows the love the brother and sister have for each other despite their quite constant arguing. The illustrations are colorful, lively and fun. Such strong and funny emotions! My favorite thing about this book, though, is learning about the holiday of Rakshabandhan or Rakhi. Learning about different cultures is so important for us all, not just children. This is what all Anitha Rathod's books are about and I think it is wonderful that she is sharing her culture with all children.… (más)
