Very creepy, good to read on cold dark nights. I particularly liked the first story, Nanny's Little Candle.

This book gave me life!!! Just when I thought truly scary books were a thing of the past, I happened upon this little gem.

Imagine if you got on the wrong train and hopped off at a seemingly deserted way post to wait for the next train? Then picture yourself waiting on a dark platform with a dead cell phone battery when you are suddenly joined by an old man and his dog. You might be happy to see him at first but then this old man starts telling you scary stories. One is more creepy than the next and he wants you to play his game. Are you scared yet?? Well, this is exactly what happens to the young boy in this book and I loved every minute!

This book reminds me of an old horror movie but these short stories were definitely more ghastly. I can't pick a favorite story because they were all nervewracking and alarming. I finished this book in one sitting because I couldn't wait to see how things were going to turn out for our MC and I was definitely not disappointed!

A boy gets on the wrong train. When he realizes his mistake, he gets off at the first station. The station is more just a platform than a regular station, and no one around for miles. A strange old man and his dog appear after a bit and he starts telling the boy story after story, each a little more unsettling than the one before. There really is no escape option for the boy, and the situation really creeps him out. This is a good read for middle school students who are looking for a little scare, leaving room for the reader's imagination to take over.… (más)
