A unique book. This was an individual who lived well out of the settled world for a lot of his life. It is fortunate that he took time to put down his memories. He was a key player in WW 1 in East Africa, providing amazing scouting and recon information to the British. The length of his life is astounding, given the danger and disease that were present in his vicinity. His predation on elephants is jarring for our modern sensibilities. A good book to read if Africa circa 1900 is of interest.
