Not a bad book. Had a lot of scientific stuff that was a tad above me, but it was all explained pretty well. Even plankton seemed interesting. What I really liked was all the coastal descriptions, waterways, all that sort of thing. You can almost smell the salt air when you read this book.
Not a totally awesome book. The characters were good, but not great. The thing that makes this book a little above average is the supporting characters. Zubov especially. His character is funny as hell and always has a good line, like the one about "off the rack mini-submersibles!"
On a scale of 1 to 10, it would be about a 7. It's good enough to keep you reading til you finish it. And the enemy is a pretty new, interesting thing.… (más)

It is readable if you are willing to suspend disbelief. The ending is very bad, though, just over the top.

Die letzten 80 Seite musste ich überspringen, da Powlik sich wohl vornahm, möglichst viele technische Details in die Handlung einzubauen. Für jemanden der überhaupt keine Ahnung von Tiefseeforschung, Schiffen und Flugzeugen hat, wird es irgendwann zu langweilig.
Schade eigentlich, denn stellenweise war das Buch wirklich spannend!
